Other Back/Side

As some of the traditional back/side woods become more expensive and harder to source, Hibdon Hardwood has worked hard to find new alternative woods that are plentiful and sustainable. We are pleased to offer a selection of these tonewoods including Granadillo, Machiche, T'zalam and Chechen. Many of these woods are excellent alternatives to the common rosewoods that have been used in guitar building for years.

Domestic woods are growing in popularity as the cost and shipping regulations connected with many exotic species increase. These woods are plentiful and offer all the characteristics desirable in high-quality tone-wood (quartered, straight grain). Unless otherwise noted our domestic stock has been harvested in the US and processed by Hibdon Hardwood. We are currently stocking Black Walnut, Cherry, and Hard Maple.
